Our Story
Bantaba House was born from a simple belief: good food brings people together.
More than just a café
Located within Grand Junction, we wanted to create more than just a café. We wanted to create a welcoming space where neighbours, families, creatives, visitors and friends could gather, connect and feel at home.

What is a Bantaba?
"The name Bantaba comes from a West African tradition. A Bantaba is a community gathering place – a space where people meet to share stories, ideas, food, knowledge and friendship. It is a place of conversation, hospitality and belonging."
That spirit inspires everything we do.
The Four Pillars
Everything we do at Bantaba House is guided by these four pillars.
Welcoming
A warm space for everyone who walks through our doors.
Community
Building connections through food, stories, and shared experiences.
Family
A place where neighbours become friends and everyone belongs.
Rooted
Honouring West African traditions while embracing our local roots.

Food, Coffee & Culture
At Bantaba House, you’ll find great coffee, fresh food, homemade bakes and a warm welcome. Our menu is built around familiar café favourites, while gradually introducing flavours and dishes inspired by the rich food traditions of Senegambia and West Africa.
We believe food is one of the most powerful ways to connect people and cultures. Through our weekly specials, community events, storytelling evenings, live music and cultural experiences, we hope to celebrate heritage while creating new connections within our local community.
A place for everyone
Whether you’re stopping by for your morning coffee, meeting friends for lunch, working remotely for the afternoon, or attending one of our community events, Bantaba House is a place for everyone.
"More than a café, Bantaba House is a community food house where people gather, eat, connect and belong."
